Performance
Schema is an ongoing performance research project that brings together a collection of text, image, film and movement to explore particular experiences, which extend, displace or reconfigure our bodies’ perception or experience of its Self. Source material for this research project includes the live performances of James Brown, the choreo-politics of protest and assembly, the cinematography of R.W. Fassbinder and for this event; the concepts and live production of Jeff Mills music (of UR/ Underground Resistance, Detroit).
Starting from this position of pleasure in sound and reconfigurations of our sensations; Mark will explore ideas of the bodys capacity for taking on technology to create new experiences of embodiment. Presenting three improvisations of a body as a rapid prototyping machine, one producing moments rather than objects, sifting a soul out of technologies. With each iteration Mark will explore a range of references starting as images then experiences to producing possibilities and futures; three prototypes of a new techno-body-and-soul.
