Sound Installation

Scottish Portuguese sound artist and producer, SHHE, presents DÝRA – a sonic installation evoking landscapes and liminal states. The ambient project took form during a self-directed artist residency in the Westfjords of Iceland, influenced by the tranquility of the Dýrafjörður fjord. Immersed in a distinct landscape with quietly monumental surroundings, Shaw began documenting her experience of the environment through field recordings and environmental data captured across several geographical locations.
Combining ambisonic and hydrophone recordings, DÝRA is evocative in its construction, inviting listeners to imagine their own space and scale within the Dýrafjörður landscape, one of the largest fjords in the Westfjords of Iceland.
Selected as part of Made in Scotland showcase at Edinburgh Festival and released via One Little Independent Records to critical acclaim in 2024, DÝRA will be presented in Dundee for the first time, as part of Present Futures.
‘Not just transcendental, it is remarkably profound’ – The Skinny
