Experiential Research Presentation
Choreographer Louise Ahl and Scent Designer Clara Weale will present their recent collaboration on scent in performance. They will introduce their work on the new opera performance Skunk without k is Sun, including music and scent in progress.
Louise Ahl is developing an experimental opera performance, working with audio description as operatic material, and scent as a layer of narration. Clara Weale is developing three environmental scents for the opera, which will be shared during this experiential research presentation.
The project is in development with a premiere in October 2023. Music, sung audio description and scent will be shared at Present Futures in the dark to offer a non-visual experience of performance.
Skunk without k is Sun is Co-commissioned by Tramway, Take Me Somewhere and The Place. Supported by Institute of Contemporary Arts, Battersea Arts Centre, The Work Room, South East Dance, Dance Base and O. Festival of Opera, Music, Theatre. Funded by Jerwood Live Work Fund, Cockaigne Fund and the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
